General Description

The content theft deterrent is standard equipment on this vehicle. The theft deterrent system operates separately from the (PASS-Key (R) III) which is also standard equipment on this vehicle. The system is designed to provide a warning in the event of force entry through the doors. When a forced entry is attempted, the alarm warning system trips, causing the horn to sound intermittently and the extenor lamps to flash in unison for approximately 30 seconds. A starter interlock feature is included in the PASS-Key (R) III systems.

IMPORTANT: The content theft deterrent system does not affect engine starting.

The alarm is tripped by closing switches strategically located in the door latch. If any door is opened without the key or RFA transmitter, the controller activates the alarm.
