Steering Column

The steering column contains a PASS-Key (R) III module used to read the ignition key transponder. The wire routing for the contacts inside the steering column is critical When servicing the lock cylinder set, be certain to maintain proper wire routing.

The steering column lock cylinder also performs all lock cylinder functions similar to non-PASS-Key (R) III vehicles. When replacing the steering column lock cylinder, it is necessary to duplicate the exact mechanical cut for the new keys, which are then read by the PASS-Key (R) III module which reprograms the module to recognize the new key, this relearning procedure takes 30 minutes, refer to Auto Learn procedure. Service and Repair This procedure must also be used when the steering column is replaced as an assembly.
