Driver/Passenger SIR Service Precautions

The SDM can maintain sufficient voltage to cause a deployment for up to 2 minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF or the battery is disconnected. Many of the service procedures require disconnection of the "AIRBAG" fuse and both driver and passenger inflator modules from their deployment loops to avoid an accidental deployment.

When performing service on or around SIR components or SIR wiring, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belt to temporarily disable the SIR system. Failure to follow procedures could result in possible air bag deployment, personal injury, or otherwise unneeded SIR system repairs.
