General
The content theft deterrent (CTD) is standard equipment on the 1997 Park Avenue. The CTD system operates separately from the PASS-Key (R) III system which is also standard equipment on this vehicle. The CTD system is designed to provide a warning in the event of forced entry through the doors. There is no trunk tamper alarm circuit on this vehicle. The CTD system does not affect engine starting. The CTD alarm is tripped by closing the door jamb or lock cylinder tamper switches. If any door is opened or lock cylinder violated, by rotating or moving in and out without the key, the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module will activate the alarm. During the alarm warning, the horn and perimeter lights are pulsed, alternating with one another (lights on/horn off - horn on/lights off) for approximately 30 seconds. The interior lights are also turned on during the alarm period. The CTD subsystem comprises the following components:
^ Remote Function Actuator Module
^ Ignition Switch
^ Drivers Door Module
^ Passengers Door Module
^ Rear Door Module
^ Door Jamb Switches
^ Class 2 Data Link
^ Simple Bus Interface
^ SECURITY Telltale
