Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. The TRK REL fuse provides power to both the fuel door release solenoid and the trunk lid release actuator. Before inspecting the fuse, try to actuate both the trunk lid and fuel door. If either one opens, the fuse is good.
2. Visually inspect trunk lid release actuator connector or fuel door release solenoid connector and associated wiring.
3. Check mechanical operation of the fuel door release using the mechanical release located in the rear compartment.
4. The Class 2 serial data line must be functioning between the Body Control Module (SBM) and the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module for the trunk release system to work.
5. Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and harness connectors.
6. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
7. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
