Heated Seats
The heated seats are part of the W01 seating package which comes with a combination of seat heat (KA1), lumbar support (AL2) and articulating headrest. The Ignition Switch must be in the RUN position to operate seat heat. The seat heat elements are in series and heat at the same rate. If one seat heat element opens, the other element will not work either. A thermistor is mounted in the seat cover to monitor seat heat. The thermistor signal is used by the Seat Heater Control Module to control the PWM power signal to the heating elements.
The Seat Heater Control Module receives mode signals from the Heat Switch mounted on the Instrument Panel. One press of the Heat Switch selects the HIGH HEAT mode, a second press selects the LOW HEAT mode and a third press selects the OFF mode. Further depressions will repeat this cycle.
The Seat Heater Control Module receives a load shed enable signal from the Standard Body Module (SBM), which in turn receives a status message from the Seat Heater Control Module. During periods of high electrical current drain, the SBM may intermittently block selected components, which can include heated seats, from receiving power.
