Table A Traction Off Indicator on With No DTCs Set

"Traction Off" Indicator "On" With No DTC(s) Set:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The "TRACTION OFF" indicator is controlled by the class 2 serial data line from the Electronic Brake/Traction Control Module (EBTCM). When the EBTCM sees the Traction Control line go low through the momentary Traction Control switch it disables Traction Control and sends a message to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to turn the "TRACTION OFF" indicator "ON." Each time the ignition switch is cycled "OFF" to "RUN" the Traction Control is enabled until the Traction Control switch is pressed to disable Traction Control.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction. If the "ABS" indicator is "ON" then the "TRACTION OFF" will also be "ON," so always check the "ABS" indicator first. Be sure to check all related connectors for corrosion and damage, and repair as necessary.

TABLE TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
[3] Checks if the Traction Control switch or CKT is shorted to ground.
[5] Checks if the IPC has the ability to control the indicator.
