Installation
Engine Block Heater Installation:
CAUTION: Perform this operation only when the engine is cool or personal injury may result.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain coolant.
2. Water jacket plug. Carefully tap it near its outer edge, causing it to rotate out of hole. Do not score the machined surface of the hole. Grasp with pliers and pull to remove.
Clean
^ Core plug hole, removing any burrs, compound, paint, or rough spots.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Apply a coat of Permatex (R) Thread Sealant with Teflon to the O-ring and clean surface of plug opening.
Engine Block Heater Location:
2. Insert heater and push tight to block. Position element as shown in image.
3. Tighten bolt until both locking wings draw tight against inner wall of engine block.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 2 N.m (17 lb. in.).
Engine Block Heater Location:
4. Heater cord assembly. Secure cord to wiring harness with clips.
NOTE: The heater cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold, or any moving parts.
5. Fill with coolant.
