IPC Keep Alive Memory (KAM)

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) contains a data storage area which can save pertinent data when the ignition is turned off but the data will be lost when battery power is removed. This area, the Keep Alive Memory (KAM), is used by the IPC to store trip odometer readings, fuel data information and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). The KAM area is an integral art of the IPC microprocessor and can not be serviced separately. KAM data will not be retained if battery power is lost.
