Operating Conditions

The Low Tire Pressure Warning system operates on "smooth" data. Braking, acceleration or deceleration greater than 0.1 g, Antilock Brake or Traction Control active and turning cause the system to halt processing until the condition goes away. Noisy wheel speed (e.g. gravel roads) and snow covered road surfaces will cause the system to take a longer time to detect a low pressure condition. Hydroplaning in the rain, driving with two wheels off of the pavement and ice patches may cause system low pressure warnings when no problems exist. During nominal driving conditions on smooth hard surfaces, a calibrated system will detect a tire pressure greater than 10 psi lower than the other tires in less than six minutes.
