Wheel Speed Sensors

Front Wheel Speed Sensor Removal/Installation:






FRONT

Remove Or Disconnect
1. Wheel speed sensor connector.
2. Wheel Hub and Wheel Bearing assembly. Clean All dirt and debris from sensor housing/sensor interface area.
3. Using split plate puller J 22912-01 (or equivalent), remove sensor from bearing assembly. Do not allow debris to enter bearing when sensor is removed. Do not add lubricant to bearing through sensor housing opening. The bearing is lubricated for the life of the vehicle. Do not clean grease from toothed sensor ring. Grease does not affect sensor operation. Inspect bearing and sensor cap for any indication of water or debris entry (i.e. rust, or grease being very fluid). If indication of water or debris exists, replace entire hub and bearing assembly. Clean sealant from outer diameter of bearing hub using only a clean, lint free cloth.

Install Or Connect
1. Apply 620 Loctite to groove in outer diameter of bearing hub per instructions in the service kit. Place hub and bearing assembly on J 38764-2 (or equivalent) to prevent possible damage to studs.
2. Sensor, using the tool to press sensor into place.
3. Wheel Hub and Wheel Bearing assembly.
4. Wheel speed sensor connector.

Rear Wheel Speed Sensor:





REAR
The rear wheel speed sensor is an integral part of the rear Wheel Hub and Wheel Bearing assembly. It is not to be serviced separately and no attempt should be made to remove it from the bearing.
