Linear Shift Assembly - Disassemble

G/S Lever Assembly Support Bracket (c/s only)


^ Tools Required:
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers
- Or Equivalents

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Do all steps under "REMOVAL PROCEDURE," refer to LOWER SHROUD, UPPER SHROUD.
2. Do steps 2 through 6 under "REMOVAL PROCEDURE," refer to LINEAR SHIFT ASM (REMOVAL C/S ONLY).





3. Remove hexagon flanged head bolt.
4. Remove ball & actuator assembly.
5. Remove shift lever clevis.
A. Lift up on shift gate and rotate shift lever clevis.
B. Clevis from gearshift lever assembly support bracket.





6. Pry off locking ring on park lock cable assembly.
^ Move park lock latch to gain access to lower oval head 6-lobed socket tap screw.





7. Remove two oval head 6-lobed socket tap screws from shift gate.
8. Remove park lock cable assembly from support bracket. Remove retaining clip.
9. Pry transaxle shift cable from inner ball stud on cable shift cam assembly.





10. Remove hexagon flange head bolt.
11. Remove cable shift cam assembly.
12. Remove cam bushing from cable shift cam assembly.





13. Remove three flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws.
14. Remove gearshift lever assembly support bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Lubricate all moving parts of assembly with synthetic grease.
2. Install gearshift lever assembly support bracket.
3. Install three flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws.
^ Tighten screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





4. Insert cam bushing into cable shift cam assembly.
5. Install cable shift cam assembly.
6. Install hexagon flange head bolt.
^ Tighten screws to 18 Nm (14 lb ft).
7. Install transaxle shift cable to inner ball stud on cable shift cam assembly.





8. Install park lock cable assembly to support bracket. Insert retaining clip.
9. Install shift lever clevis and shift gate to support bracket.
A. Position shift gate to end of clevis lever.
B. Rotate clevis and shift gate into position.
C. Push against shift lever spring tension to align shift gate holes with support bracket holes.
10. Install two oval head 6-lobed socket tap screws.
^ Tighten screws to 6.5 Nm (58 lb in).





11. Install ball & actuator assembly
12. Install hexagon flanged head bolt.
^ Tighten bolt to 18.0 Nm (14 lb ft).
13. Install park lock cable assembly to lock module assembly.
^ Lock cylinder should be in "OFF-LOCK" position and gear shift in "PARK" position.
^ Locking tab on end of cable to slot in lock module assembly.
14. Do steps 4 through 8, under "INSTALLATION PROCEDURE," refer to LINEAR SHIFT ASM (REMOVAL C/S ONLY).
