Lock Module Assembly

^ Tools Required:
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor
- J 242137 Lock Plate Compressor Adapter
- J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers
- Or Equivalents

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Do steps 1 through 6, under "REMOVAL PROCEDURE," refer to STRG COLUMN LOCK CYL SET.





2. Remove park lock cable assembly from lock module assembly.
^ Lock cylinder should be in "OFF-LOCK" position.
^ Insert small blade screwdriver into slot in lock module assembly. Push against locking tab on end of cable assembly and remove.





3. Remove shift lever.
4. Remove shift lever seal.





5. Remove control coded key.





6. Remove key alarm switch from lock module assembly.
^ Gently pry retaining clip on alarm switch with small blade screwdriver.
^ Rotate alarm switch 1/4 turn and remove.
7. Remove two tapping screws.
8. Remove ignition & key alarm switch assembly.
^ Let switch hang freely.





9. Remove three pan head tapping screws.
10. Remove lock module assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems. Failure to do so may result in component damage or malfunction of steering column.

1. Install lock module assembly.
^ Push lock bolt into steering column housing assembly until flush.
^ Align lock module assembly with tilt head assembly and install.
2. Install three pan head tapping screws.
^ Tighten screws to 6.0 Nm (53 lb in).





3. Install ignition & key alarm switch assembly.
4. Install two tapping screws.
^ Tighten screws to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in).
5. Install alarm switch to lock module assembly.
A. Switch with retaining clip parallel to lock cylinder.
B. Rotate switch 1/4 turn until locked into place.





6. Install control coded key.
^ Install control coded key connector to wire harness.
^ Wire Harness to slot in steering column tilt head assembly.





7. Install park lock cable assembly to lock module assembly.
^ Lock cylinder should be in "OFF-LOCK" position and gear shift in "PARK" position.
^ Locking tab on end of cable (48) to slot in lock module assembly.
8. Do Adjust and Inspect, under "INSTALLATION PROCEDURE," refer to STRG COLUMN LOCK CYL SET (Lost Key).
9. Do steps 8 through 14, under "INSTALLATION PROCEDURE," refer to STRG COLUMN LOCK CYL SET (Lost Key).
