Use the following chart to determine the correct adapter harness application.

Description

Cadillac E/K phones are forward and backward compatible for 96 & 97 providing the correct adapter harness is used.

Procedure

Correct installation of a particular combination requires answering the following questions:

1. What MY communications system is being used?

2. Which pre-wire harness is installed in the vehicle?

3. Which adapter harness should be used? Consult chart above to identify EARLY/LATE 97 model year vehicles.

Check the prewire cell phone harness connector located in the RH side of trunk to determine one of the following versions:

EARLY 97 Model - uses small connector similar to those found on a personal computers. This connector is secured by two screws passing through a metal flange. The connector has 25 pins, numbered 1-25.

Important:
The early production 97 MY vehicles have the same type of connector as the 96 MY vehicles but the pin outs location of the mono audio output leads are different. The transceiver will plug in directly to the vehicle harness but, installation without an adapter harness will result in a phone inop condition.

LATE 97 MY uses standard Packard automotive style connector, secured by a plastic locking tab. This connector has 23 pins, and identified by alpha characters A-Z.

Harness P/N 16268667/with clam shell case is the same as harness P/N 16250385/without clam shell case. The clam shell provides a secure connection by two screws passing through a metal flange.
