Transmitter Programming

Transmitter Programming

In the event that a transmitter is lost, the "old" and "new" transmitter(s) will need to be programmed into the remote control door lock receiver's memory. Up to four transmitters may be programmed.

Important
^ Once the keyless entry receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information, requiring the programming of all transmitters.
^ Program only one vehicle remote control door lock receiver at a time. If multiple receivers are being programmed simultaneously, it is possible that the same transmitter could be programmed to more than one remote control door lock receiver.

METHOD 1 - NO TOOLS REQUIRED

1. Sit in the vehicle driver's seat.
2. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
3. Close all of the vehicle's doors.
4. Press and HOLD the door "LOCK" switch to the "Unlock" position.
5. Insert and remove the ignition key twice (without rotating the ignition lock cylinder).
6. Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition must be in the "OFF" position.
7. Release the door "LOCK" switch from the "Unlock" position (three fast chimes will be heard when the remote control door lock receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode).
8. Press and HOLD the transmitter "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons simultaneously for at least 12 seconds. Two fast chimes will be heard confirming successful programming.
9. Repeat step 8 for each additional transmitter to be programmed.
10. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder

METHOD 2 - SCAN TOOL REQUIRED

The following procedure describes how to program the remote control door lock transmitters to the remote control door lock receiver using the Tech 2 (R). This procedure may also be accomplished by using an equivalent scan tool.

1. Connect the scan tool to an applicable power source and the vehicle Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position.
3. At the "Application Menu" screen, select "F3" (body control module).
4. At the "Body Control Module" screen, select "F3" (special functions).
5. At the "Special Functions Menu" screen, select "F0" (output control).
6. At the "Output Control Menu" screen, select "F5" (program key fobs).
7. Follow the directions on the scan tool display to program the transmitter(s).
8. Press "Exit" repeatedly until the "Application Menu" screen is viewed.
9. Disconnect the scan tool from the accessory power port and the vehicle DLC.
10. Validate that all the transmitters that were programmed, operate properly.
