Circuit Description

The dual zone A/C system is a vacuum and electronically controlled heating, ventilating and air conditioning system. Both electronic and vacuum circuits determine air intake and discharge locations. Electronic circuits also control mode, A/C compressor clutch operation, fan operation and discharge air temperature.

The driver may select a desired interior temperature, fan speed and one of eight different modes of operation from the heater A/C control. One of these modes is a fully automatic dual zone mode. In this mode the system determines the appropriate air intake, discharge locations, fan speed, and discharge air temperature, according to the driver or passenger selected temperature and information provided by the systems network of sensors. The passenger temperature control is able to significantly increase or decrease air discharge temperature on the passenger's side of the vehicle.

The passenger control is on the heater A/C control head and is enabled by pushing the "Dual" button on the control head.
