Battery Replacement
Battery Installation:
Battery Heat Shield:
NOTE: Always turn the ignition "OFF" when connecting or disconnecting battery cables, battery chargers or jumper cables. Failing to do so may damage the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or other electronic components.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Diagonal cross brace.
2. Windshield washer reservoir.
3. Battery ground (negative) cable from battery.
4. Battery (positive) cable from battery.
5. Battery hold down retainer.
6. Underhood electrical center nut from shock tower on 3800 L36 (VIN K) and 3800 L67 (VIN 1).
7. Underhood electrical center on 3800 L36 (VIN K) and 3800 L67 (VIN 1) for access to battery.
Important: Do not tip battery more than 40 degrees during removal.
8. Battery.
9. Battery heat shield from battery.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTE: Refer to Service Precautions.
1. Battery heat shield to battery.
Important
^ Do not tip battery more than 40 degrees during installation.
2. Battery.
3. Battery hold down retainer.
4. Underhood electrical center on 3800 L36 (VIN K) and 3800 L67 (VIN 1).
5. Underhood electrical center nut to shock tower on 3800 L36 (VIN K) and 3800 L67 (VIN 1).
Tighten
^ Nut to 3 N.m (27 lb. in.).
6. Battery (positive) cable to battery.
Tighten
^ Bolt/screw to 15 N.m (11 lb. ft.).
7. Battery ground (negative) cable to battery.
8. Windshield washer reservoir.
9. Diagonal cross brace.
