on Smooth Roads with Curves or Dips (Replace Transmission Mount)

1997-99 Buick Century, Regal

Condition

Some customers may comment about a shaking sensation when the vehicle is operated between 35-55 mph (55-90 km/h) on a smooth road surface with curves or dips. This condition may be further aggravated by elevated ambient temperatures.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the vehicle's engine being vertically displaced or bounced in its' mounts, resulting in the transmitting of a vibration into the body structure.

Correction

Replace existing elastromeric transmission mount with hydraulic transmission mount (P/N 22178939), following applicable Service Manual procedures.

Important:
Transmission mount (P/N 22178939) should NOT be installed in an attempt to correct any condition other than the vibration described above.
