DTC B2202 Driver Door Unlock Circuit:

DTC B2202 Driver Door Unlock Circuit (Part 1 Of 2):

DTC B2202 Driver Door Unlock Circuit (Part 2 Of 2):

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The driver door unlock circuit is completed by the Body Control Module (BCM) when it receives a driver door unlock request from any of the door lock switches or the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. The BCM grounds circuit 1391, energizing the door lock relay. If the BCM detects a short to ground or an open a fault condition is present and a DTC will set.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ BCM detects a short to ground or an open in circuit 1391.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores a DTC B2202 in the BCM memory.
^ No driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The BCM sees battery voltage in circuit 1391.
^ A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Using a scan too1.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction to occur:
- An intermittent open or short to ground in circuit 1391.
- Poor connections at the BCM, or the door lock relay terminals.
^ If the BCM is open or shorted to ground internally.
^ If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while moving wiring and connectors. this can often cause the malfunction to appear.
^ If the coil is open in the door lock relay.
^ An intermittent open in circuit 1540.
^ DTC P1626 will set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the ignition switch is in the RUN position with the BCM disconnected.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
1. Always perform the BCM Diagnostic System Check before attempting to diagnose a DTC B2202.
2. Checks for voltage in circuit 1391.
3. Clears BCM DTCs and checks for BCM DTC B2202 again.
4. Checks for a short to ground in circuit 1391
5. Determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1391 or the door lock relay.
6. Checks for an open in circuit 1391.
8. Determines if the open is in circuit 1540 or the door lock relay.
