DTC B2803 RFA Link Circuit:

DTC B2803 RFA Link Circuit (Part 1 Of 2):

DTC B2803 RFA Link Circuit (Part 2 Of 2):

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Body Control Module (BCM) has the ability to enable the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode (refer to Keyless Entry for entering this mode) of this receiver. The BCM will detect and prevent message collisions on the RFA link. The BCM also receives programming signals from the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). When the BCM tries to enable the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode and cannot pull the RFA link circuit to ground due to a short to voltage, the BCM sets DTC B28003.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ BCM detects a short to voltage in circuit 917 while attempting to enable the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores a DTC B2803 in the BCM memory.
^ No driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC.
^ RCDLR does not enter transmitter programming/diagnostic mode.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Current DTC B2803 clears automatically after aborted attempt to enter transmitter programming/diagnostic mode.
^ A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Using a scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction to occur:
- An intermittent short to voltage in circuit 917.
- An intermittent short to voltage in the BCM.
- RCDLR shorted to voltage internally.
^ The BCM only checks for DTC B2803 when attempting to enable transmitter programming/diagnostic mode (refer to Keyless Entry for information on how to enter this mode). Keyless Entry

^ The problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while moving wiring and connectors. This can often cause the malfunction to appear.
^ DTC P1626 will set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the ignition switch is in the RUN position with the BCM disconnected.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
1. Always perform the BCM Diagnostic System Check before attempting to diagnose a DTC B2803.
2. Checks for communication between the BCM and the RCDLR when using keyfob.
3. Checks for communication between the BCM and the RCDLR when entering the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode.
4. Determines if the short to B+ is in circuit 917.
7. Checks for a faulty RCDLR.
