C1315

DTC C1315 - Brake Thermal Model Temperature Exceeded:

Circuit Description
This DTC identifies an condition in which the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) uses a Brake Thermal Model (BTM) to determine if the front brake pads have exceeded their specified thermal model limit. When the front brake pads exceed their thermal model limit the Traction Control System (TCS) system will disable the brake intervention portion of TCS. This will leave only engine torque reduction for the amount of time for the front brake pads to cool below the specified thermal model limit at which time full TCS will be available.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC C1315 can set anytime after the EBTCM commands the Electronic Brake Control Relay on. The DTC will set when the front brake pads have exceeded their specified thermal model limit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
A malfunction DTC is stored, TCS is partially disabled and the amber TCS warning indicator is turned on. The brake intervention portion of the TCS is disabled leaving only the engine torque reduction. When the front brake pads cool below their re-entry limit temperature the amber TCS warning indicator will turn off and full TCS will be available. (Note that even though the TCS system is available DTC C1315 will still be current for the rest of the current drive cycle for service reasons.)

Conditions for Clearing DTC
Condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. The scan tool clear DTC function is used, or 100 drive cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.

Diagnostic Aids
The temperature of the front brake pads can be read in the TCS data list on the scan tool.
