Circuit Operation

There are three data lines that can be accessed with a scan tool. Circuit 800, UART serial data line, is the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module. It allows the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module to communicate by transmitting data through circuit 800. Circuit 1807, class 11 serial data line, is the splice pack SP205. It allows the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), instrument cluster, heater-AC control (CJ2). and the Body Control Module (BCM) to communicate by transmitting data through circuit 1807. The data link connector is also connected with the entertainment package (circuit 835), entertainment and comfort serial data line, consisting of the radio which allows the scan tool to test the functions of the radio. System operations can then be monitored for diagnostic purposes through the scan tool for each serial data line.

Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
The BCM may set DTCs for the following functions or die BCM relating to the data link connector (class II serial data line):
^ U1016 - PCM Class II Source ID 10
^ U1040 - EBCM Class II Source ID 28
^ U1064 - BCM Class II Source ID 40
^ U1096 - I/P Class II Source ID 60
^ U1255 - Loss of Class II Serial Data Fault (General)
^ U1300 - Class II Data Link Shorted to Ground
^ U1301 - Class II Data Link Shorted to Voltage
^ Refer to Body Control Module for DTCs and diagnostic procedures regarding these codes. Testing and Inspection
