Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check DR LK1, DR LK2 and DR UNLK Fuse.
2. Check for mechanical binds in the Door Lock System
3. If one or more of the Door Lock Motors do not operate properly, but the other Door Lock Motors function normally, check the Wiring to the motor. If the wiring is OK, replace the motor.
4. If DR LK1 Fuse blows when a power Door Lock Switch is activated, check CKT 194, CKT 195, Door Lock Relay and Multi-Function Alarm Module for a short to ground.
5. If a motor"s internal circuit breaker trips, it will not reset until voltage is removed from the motor
6. If LH front Door Lock is the only inoperative lock, and the vehicle is equipped with the Keyless Entry Feature, refer to Keyless Entry for diagnosis. Keyless Entry

NOTE: The Automatic Door Lock feature is controlled by the Multi-Function Alarm Module. Verify that all chime alarms operate, refer to Audible Warnings: Chime, and that the Illuminated entry, refer to Interior Lights, features operate before diagnosing any Automatic Door Lock problems.

^ Refer to Instrument Panel for Multi-Function Alarm Module access. Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators

^ Refer to System Diagnosis.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check (refer to Troubleshooting Procedures).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
