The TECH 2 Scan Tool can be used to monitor the communications between controllers to diagnose problems in the vehicle. This is called the "SDL (Serial Data Link) MONITOR" on the TECH 2. Refer to Table #2 for listing of normal communications between the IPC and various control modules. Please note that this table includes all options and some may not be active on all cars. The term ABS refers to the Anti-lock Brake System which is controlled by the EBCM. The term SIR refers to Supplemental Inflatable Restraint which is controlled by the SDM. This table is broken into display pairs as the TECH 2 Scan Tool lists two function descriptions per screen.
