SIR Connector/Terminal Position Assurance

CONNECTOR POSITION ASSURANCE (CPA)

The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) is a small plastic insert that is inserted through the locking tabs of all of the SIR system connectors. The purpose of the CPA is to assure the connector halves are securely connected and they cannot vibrate apart. The CPA must be in place to ensure good contact between the SIR mating terminals.

TERMINAL POSITION ASSURANCE (TPA)

The Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) insert is similar to the plastic "combs" used in ECM connectors. The function of the TPA is to keep the terminal securely seated in the connector body. The TPA is not to be removed from the connector body unless a terminal must be removed for replacement.
