SIR Connector (Plastic Body and Terminal Metal Pin) Repair

If any connector or terminal in the SIR wire harness (except pigtails) is damaged, it should be repaired using one of the connector repair assembly packs. These kits include an instruction sheet and the sealed splices which will be used to splice the new wires, connector, and terminals to the harness. The splice crimping tool, which is color keyed to match the splices from Terminal Repair Kit J 38125-A, must be used to apply these splices.

The terminals in the SIR system are made of a special metal to provide necessary contact integrity for the sensitive, low energy circuits. These terminals are only available in the connector repair assembly packs, do not substitute any other terminals for those in the assembly packs.

If individual terminals are damaged on the inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector, the inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector must be replaced with an inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector/pigtail assembly. If individual terminals are damaged on any other SIR connection, the entire connection should be replaced using the appropriate connector repair assembly pack. It may be necessary to replace the en
