Checking and Adding Fluid
Power steering fluid level is indicated either by marks on a see-through fluid reservoir or by marks on a fluid level indicator on the fluid reservoir cap.CAUTIONS:
^ When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use correct power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
^ Reduced power steering assist upon cold weather starting may be more noticeable in steering gear systems with longer hoses. This condition is related to power steering fluid viscosity and should not be confused with conditions having similar symptoms. A new "Low Temperature Climate Service Fluid" is available for use in cold climates
If the fluid is warmed up, about 77° C (170° F) hot to the touch, the fluid level should be at the full "HOT" mark.
If the fluid is cool, about 21° C (70° F), the fluid level should be at the full "COLD" mark.
