Disassemble
1. Do all steps Remove or Disconnect, LOWER SHROUD, and, UPPER SHROUD.
2. Hexagon flanged head bolt (40).
3. Ball & actuator assembly (39).
Adjusting Park Lock Cable:
4. Pop off locking TAB on park lock cable assembly (57).
5. Shift lever clevis (41).
A. Lift up on shift gate and rotate shift lever clevis (36).
B. Clevis (36) from gearshift lever assembly support bracket (36).
6. Park lock cable assembly (57) from support bracket (41). Remove retaining clip.
7. Pry transaxle shift cable from lower ball stud on cable shift cam assembly (58).
8. Hexagon flange head bolt (40).
9. Cable shift cam assembly (38).
10. Cam bushing (63) from cable shift cam assembly (44).
11. Three flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws (37).
12. Gears shift lever assembly support bracket (41).
Assemble
1. Lubricate all moving parts of assembly with synthetic grease.
2. Gearshift lever assembly support bracket (49).
3. Three flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws (43).
Tighten
^ Tighten screws (37) to 10 N.m (89 lb.in.).
4. Insert cam bushing (42) into cable shift cam assembly (38).
5. Cable shift cam assembly (38).
6. Hexagon flange head bolt (40).
Tighten
^ Tighten bolt (40) to 18 N.m (159 lb.in.).
7. Transaxle shift cable to lower ball stud on cable shift cam assembly (38).
8. Park lock cable assembly (57) to support bracket (41). Insert retaining clip.
9. Shift lever clevis (36) and shift gate to support bracket (41).
10. Ball & actuator assembly (39).
11. Hexagon flanged head bolt (40).
Install or Connect
1. Linear shift assembly (35) to column.
2. Three flat head 6-lobed socket screws (37).
^ Linear shift assembly (35) must be out of "PARK" position to install lower socket screw (37).
Tighten
^ Tighten screws (37) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
3. Transaxle cable to lower shift cable ball stud on cable shift cam assembly (38).
Adjust
^ Park lock cable assembly (57).
A. Route cable from shift assembly to housing assembly, Strg col.
B. With key in run position and shift lever in park detent, snap connector body of cable assembly to housing. Make sure locking tab is fully engaged into housing.
C. Push and hold cable sheath at adjuster body toward shifter assembly. Turn key to off-lock position and pull key halfway out of lock cylinder, release cable sheath.
D. Allow cable to reach equilibrium, lock cable adjuster.
Inspect
^ Park lock cable assembly (57).
A. With lock cylinder in "OFF-LOCK" position, gear shift lever should not be able to shift out of "PARK" position.
B. Insert key and turn to "RUN" position.
C. Shifter in "NEUTRAL" position.
D. With gear shift in "NEUTRAL" position, lock cylinder should not be able to go into "OFF-LOCK" position.
E. Shifter in "PARK" position.
F. Lock cylinder in "OFF-LOCK" position and remove key.
5. Do all steps Install or Connect, LOWER SHROUD, and, UPPER SHROUD.
