Shift Interlock: Adjustments

PARK LOCK ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Steering column covers.

INSPECT
^ Ensure that the locking tab of the park lock cable end is fully attached into the ignition cylinder lock housing. Assemble cable if necessary or replace cable if locking tab is damaged.

ADJUST
1. Turn key to "RUN" position.
2. Move shift lever to PARK position.
3. Move the locking button on the park lock cable adjuster body to the "Unlock" position.
4. PUSH and HOLD cable sheath at adjuster body towards shifter assembly. Turn ignition key to "Off-Lock" position and pull key half way out of lock cylinder. RELEASE cable sheath.
5. Remove hands and allow park lock cable to reach it's equilibrium position.
6. Move the locking button on the park lock cable adjuster body to the "Lock" position.
7. If cable tension is TOO tight, ignition key may be restricted from being removed after first full actuation of lock cylinder. If cable tension is TOO LOOSE, a "Pull Out Of Park" condition may exist.
8. Complete a Park Lock System Check again to ensure proper operation. Testing and Inspection
