Disabling The Theft Deterrent Feature

Disable the theft deterrent from the secure mode by using the following sequence of operations:
1. Ensure that the battery and the ignition voltages are applied and the radio is turned off.
2. Press and hold the radio preset buttons 1 and 4 for 5 seconds. The display will show SEC, indicating that the unit is in the secure mode.
3. Using the HR (or HRS) and the MN (or MIN) buttons, enter any code number. The initial key depression of either button will cause the display to indicate 000.
4. Press and hold the MIN (or MN) button until the last two digits of the code appear. The digits will also increment one by one with every momentary depression.
5. Press and hold the HRS (or HR) button until the first digit or digits of the code appear. The digits will also increment one by one with every momentary depression.
6. Press the AM/FM button.
^ If the display shows - - -, the disabling sequence was successful (the numbers matched the user-selected code or the factory backup code) and the system is not in the secure state.
^ If the display shows SEC, the numbers did not match either of the codes and the system will remain in the secure state.

The display reverts to a secure state after 15 seconds.
