Component Tests and General Diagnostics

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Distinguish Keyless Entry system operation from the operation of the controlled circuits by checking each of the following systems individually:
^ Retained Accessory Power. (After ignition is turned OFF, does the radio work until a door is opened or 10 minutes elapses?), refer to Retained Accessory Power.
^ Power door locks from all door lock switches, refer to Power Door Locks. Power Locks
^ Universal theft deterrent system, if equipped, refer to Theft Deterrent System. Antitheft and Alarm Systems
^ Interior lamps; open any door to illuminate, refer to Interior Lamps. Lighting and Horns
^ Rear compartment lid release from rear compartment lid release switch, refer to Release System. Trunk / Liftgate
2. Check IP 1 Fuse in the Rear Junction Block. If it is open, check for short to ground in CKT 1540 (ORN)
3. Check for a poor connection at ground G202.
4. Before component replacement, check for proper terminal contact at component and harness connectors.
5. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
6. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction hut prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected, refer to Troubleshooting Procedures. Diagnostic Aids
