Heater and A/C Module Assembly
Tools Required:
J 38042 Dual O-Ring Joint Separator
J 37097 Mubea Hose Clamp Pliers
J 39400 ACR 4 Machine
Remove or Disconnect
^ Recover refrigerant.
1. Cross car brace.
2. IP assembly.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Nuts and cross brace bar.
5. # 2, # 4 and # 6 spark plug wires and bracket.
6. Evaporator.
7. Heater hoses from heater core using J 37097.
8. Power steering pump.
9. Air distributor.
10. Aspirator adapter (C68 and CJ2).
11. Heater and A/C programmer (C68 and CJ2).
12. Bolt attaching heater and A/C module assembly to front of dash.
13. Bolt and studs attaching heater and A/C assembly to rear of dash, repositioning insulation as necessary.
14. Heater and A/C module assembly (remainder), rotating as necessary to clear right hand rear corner of engine.
15. If replacing heater and A/C module assembly, transfer heater core to new module assembly.
Install or Connect
1. Heater and A/C module assembly (partial), rotating as necessary to clear right hand rear corner of engine.
2. Bolt and studs attaching heater and A/C assembly to rear of dash, repositioning insulation as necessary.
Tighten
^ Bolts and studs to 4 N.m (44 lb. in.).
3. Bolt attaching heater and A/C module assembly to front of dash.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb. in.).
4. Heater A/C programmer (C68 and CJ2) and mounting screws.
Tighten
^ Screws to 1.4 N.m (12 lb. in.).
5. Aspirator adapter (C68 & CI2).
6. Air distributor and screws.
Tighten
^ Screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb. in.).
7. Vacuum source input to RH side of air distributor.
8. Floor air outlet and screws.
9. Power steering pump.
10. Heater hoses to heater core using J 39097.
11. Evaporator.
12. # 2, # 4 and # 6 spark plug wires and bracket.
13. IP assembly.
14. Cross bracket bar and nuts.
15. Fill and bleed cooling system.
^ Evacuate, charge and leak test the A/C system.
