Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Check the IP fuse block CHIME Fuse 1D by visual inspection. If open, check for an short to ground in CKT 39 (PNK).
2. Check the IP fuse block CTSY LP/PWR MIR Fuse 6A by visual inspection. If open, check for an short to ground in CKT 640 (ORN).
3. Check the IP junction block DR LKS Fuse 1 by visual inspection. If open check for a short to ground in CKT 540 (ORN)
4. Check the IP fuse block INTERIOR LPS Fuse 8B by visual inspection. If open, check for an short to ground in CKT 32 (YEL).
5. If the cigar lighter(s) are inoperative, check the IP fuse block CIGAR LTR Fuse 9B by visual inspection. If open, check for an short to ground in CKT 440 (ORN).
6. For Oldsmobile, if the auxiliary power outlet is inoperative, check the IP fuse block IP AUX OUTLET Fuse 1E by visual inspection. If open, check for an short to ground in CKT 739 (PNK).
7. If only one interior lamp does not operate, check bulb, socket and related wiring.
8. Check that grounds G104, G105, G201, G202, and G402 are clean and tight.
9. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
10. Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause a system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
11. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
