J 29800 Cut-Off Tool
1. Service the front pipe and the catalytic converter as a single unit.
2. Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to Oxygen Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls.
3. Support the converter.
Description:
4. Cut the intermediate exhaust pipes (1) at the converter with a J 29800 or equivalent. Cut the pipe as close to the weld as possible.

5. Remove the front pipe bolts at the exhaust manifold.
6. Remove the converter.
7. Remove the inlet/outlet portions that remain from the intermediate pipe/resonator.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the converter.
2. Position the intermediate pipe/resonator for proper clearance to the underbody.
NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions / Fasteners.

3. Install the U bolt type clamps.
^ Tighten the nut to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the front pipe attaching bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the oxygen sensor. Refer to Oxygen Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls.
^ Tighten the to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
