Bracket Replacement - Steering Column

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the IP assembly.
3. Remove the fasteners (2) attaching the steering column support bracket brace (1) to the inner panel.
4. Remove the fasteners retaining the steering column support brackets to the steering column support bracket brace.
5. Remove the fasteners attaching the steering column support bracket brace (1) to the steering column support bracket (2).
6. Remove the steering column support bracket brace (1) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the steering column support bracket brace (1) to the vehicle.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the fasteners (2) attaching the steering column support bracket brace to the steering column support bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 7.5 N.m (53 lb in).

3. Install the fasteners (2) attaching the steering column support bracket brace to the inner panel.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 8.5 N.m (75 lb in).

4. Install the fasteners retaining the steering column support brackets to the steering column support bracket brace.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9.5 N.m (84 lb in).

5. Install the IP assembly.
6. Enable the SIR system.
