U1016 Loss of PCM State of Health Message - Antitheft
DTC U1016 Loss Of PCM State Of Health Message:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The State-of-Health diagnostic runs every 300 milliseconds. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) internal processor broadcasts a Class 2 Bus message to the effect that it is running and on-line. The message is read by the Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key(R) III) module. Any failure to receive the PCM State-of-Health message within the proper time frame will cause this Loss of PCM State-of-Health DTC to be set.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
This diagnostic runs continuously while the ignition is ON.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The SECURITY indicator will illuminate.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
This DTC will be automatically cleared on the next ignition cycle when the module receives a successful State-Of-Health message from the PCM.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The PASS-Key (R) III Module contains software programs that perform periodic self tests. The entire diagnostic function is done within the PASS-Key (R) III Module. Diagnostic results are reported over the Class 2 Data Link upon request from a Scan Tool.
