General

The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system (when armed) is designed to deter vehicle theft by pulsing the horns and exterior lamps when an unauthorized vehicle entry is detected (any door is opened).

The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module controls all alarm functions. when the RFA module has detected an unauthorized entry, it applies ground to CKT 624, BLK/WHT (Headlights control) and CKT 28, BLK (Horns control) once per second for approximately three minutes, or until a valid input to disarm is received. The RFA module has five basic modes (disarmed, standby, delayed, armed, and alarm) for operating the CTD system. The different modes are described below.
1. Disarmed mode - the RFA module (CTD system) is in this mode until the following conditions are detected:
^ The ignition key turned to the LOCK position.
^ Any door open.
^ Doors locked by either the power door lock switch or the keyless entry transmitter (key fob).
^ If all of the doors are closed and the key fob is used to lock the doors, the RFA module goes directly to step 3, the delayed mode.
2. Standby mode the RFA module detects the above conditions and enters this mode. The RFA module illuminates the SECURITY indicator by grounding CKT 264 (DK GRN).
3. Delayed mode - when the last door is closed, the RFA module enters this mode for 30 seconds. The RFA module flashes the SECURITY indicator by intermittently grounding CKT 264 (DK GRN).
4. Armed mode - after 30 seconds, the RFA module enters this mode and turns off the SECURITY indicator.
5. Alarm mode - any unauthorized forced entry activates this mode. The RFA module flashes headlights by intermittently grounding circuit 624 (BLK/WHT) and intermittently sounding the horns by grounding circuit 28 (BLK) once per second for approximately three minutes. After three minutes the CTD system returns to the armed mode. If a valid input to disarm is received the RFA module returns to the disarmed mode.
