Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE SYSTEM
With the valet switch in the UNLOCK position, voltage is applied from the TRUNK REL fuse, through the trunk lid release relay, to the rear compartment lid release solenoid. When the rear compartment lid release switch is pressed, the switch provides an input signal to the body control module. The body control module in trunk provides a message on the Class 2 serial data line to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module. The RFA module energizes the trunk lid release relay coil. The relay contacts close to actuate the rear compartment lid release solenoid and release the rear compartment lid.

The trunk lid release relay can also be actuated, regardless of the valet switch position, using the RFA transmitter. The RFA module actuates the relay when the rear compartment lid release button on the RFA transmitter is pressed.

FUEL DOOR RELEASE SYSTEM
With the gear selector in PARK position, voltage is applied from TRUNK REL Fuse, to the fuel door release switch. The switch is grounded through fuel door release switch. Pressing the switch energizes the fuel door release solenoid, causing the fuel door to release.
