Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check all cruise control inhibit criteria (listed below).
2. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Refer to Engine Controls. Powertrain Management
3. Check that cruise control module linkage is connected and moving freely.
4. Check cruise cable adjustment.
5. Check brake switch for proper adjustment/alignment.
6. Make sure that Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) is working.
7. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check. Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures.
8. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may effect the integrity of other systems. Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures. Diagnostic Aids
