Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair









REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the fuel injection sight shield






2. Remove the manifold vacuum lines from the throttle body.


IAC Electrical Connector:





3. Remove the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve electrical connector from the IAC valve.


MAF Electrical Connector:





4. Remove the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor electrical connector from the MAF sensor.






5. Remove the TP (Throttle Position) sensor electrical connector from the Throttle Position (TP) sensor.


TP Sensor Screws:





6. Remove the two TP sensor attaching screws from the TP sensor.






7. Remove the TP sensor from the throttle body.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. With the throttle valve in the normal closed position, install the TP sensor to the throttle body assembly.

2. Apply thread-locking compound on the screws. Loctite 262 (R), GM Part No. 1052624, or equivalent should be used.

3. Install the two TP sensor attaching screws.

^ Tighten the TP sensor attaching screws to 2 N.m (18 lb. in).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.

5. Install the Idle Air Control (IAC) sensor electrical connector to the IAC valve.

6. Install the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector to the MAF sensor.

7. Install the manifold vacuum lines to the throttle body.

8. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.

^ Tighten the fuel injection sight shield to 2 N.m (18 lb. in).
