Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) verifies that the system enable or the system disable passwords received from the Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key(R) III) module via the class 2 serial data line are valid. If either passwords are invalid, the system disable password is valid, or no passwords are received the PCM disables the fuel and starter systems. If the system enable password is valid, the PCM enables the fuel system and grounds the starter relays allowing the engine to start.
