Basic Knowledge Required
DESCRIPTION
Before using the ABS/TCS procedures, you must have a basic knowledge of the following items. Without this basic knowledge, it will be difficult to use the diagnostic procedures.
1. Basic Electrical Circuits
^ The basic theory of electricity
^ Definitions of voltage, current (amps), and resistance (ohms)
^ Open/shorted wires
^ How to read a wiring diagram
2. Use of Circuit Testing Tools
^ The J 39200 DMM and the use of the meter controls
^ How to measure voltage, resistance, and current
^ Use of jumper wires in order to bypass components in testing circuits
If you need a review of basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge, refer to Diagrams, which contains helpful information in the introduction. Basic use of the circuit testing tools is also covered. Additionally, electrical/electronic courses are offered through General Motors Training.
