Odometers
Season and trip odometer displays are provided in both the base and uplevel clusters. The base level cluster uses a dedicated display for odometer information. The uplevel cluster displays odometer information on the Driver Information Display (DIC). The uplevel cluster also has two trip odometers. Season and trip odometer information are displayed in the DIC when the ODO/TRIP button is pressed. All calculations for these displays are made in the instrument cluster based on the vehicle speed input received from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).NOTE: When replacing a speedometer/odometer assembly, federal law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the prior odometer. If the same mileage cannot be set, the law requires that the replacement odometer be set to zero and a label be installed on the driver's door frame to show the previous odometer reading and the date of replacement.
^ Season odometer displays the total accumulated miles or kilometers of the vehicle. This value is permanently stored in the EEPROM of the instrument cluster. If an odometer malfunction occurs or if the instrument cluster must be replaced, an authorized Delco(R) service center must be contacted to program proper vehicle specifics (including mileage) for the instrument cluster.
^ Trip odometer displays the accumulated vehicle miles or kilometers, since the last reset. This value is stored in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) of the instrument cluster.
- To reset the trip odometer on the base instrument cluster press the TRIP RESET button.
- To reset the trip odometer on the uplevel instrument cluster (UB7) press the ODO/TRIP button, The trip odometer messages are displayed on the DIC, then press the RESET button. When the trip information is being displayed in the DIC. If a button is not used to reset the trip odometer, the display roll-overs automatically as follows.
The trip odometer rolls over at 999.9 miles when operated in English mode and at 999.9 kilometers in metric mode.
When the trip odometer is displaying greater than 621.4 miles (operating in English mode) and the ENG/MET button is pressed, the trip odometer resets to zero, since the conversion from miles to kilometers is greater than 999.9 kilometers. If the ENG/MET button is pressed again, the instrument cluster converts the displayed kilometers to miles.
