Instrument Cluster Keep Alive Memory (KAM)
The instrument cluster contains a data storage area which saves data when the ignition switch is turned off, however the data is lost when battery power is removed. This data storage area is referred to as Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and is used by the instrument cluster to store the trip odometer, fuel data, and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) information. The KAM area is an integral part of the instrument cluster microprocessor and can not be serviced separately.
