Backup Lamp: Description and Operation
When the gear selector lever is placed in REVERSE, the Remote Function Actuator
(RFA) module receives a message from the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) via class 2 serial data line. The RFA then grounds the PERIM LP relay coil. The relay switch is then closed, supplying battery positive voltage (B+) to the LH and RH
backup lamps. The backup lamps are permanently grounded at G400. The RFA removes the ground to the PERIM LP relay when it receives the class 2 serial data line message from the PCM that the gear selector is no longer in REVERSE. The PERIM LP relay switch then opens, removing the battery voltage to the backup lamps and they a turn off.
