Battery Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
^ Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
^ Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.
^ Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery before proceeding with any replacement or repair.




1. Open the negative battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
2. Open the positive battery cable transition block cable protector cover.




3. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery cable transition block.
4. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery cable transition block.
5. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery terminal on the underhood junction block.




6. Disconnect the positive battery cable wire ties from tie down locations.
7. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the starter.
8. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the positive battery cable into the vehicle and lay the cable into its approximate location.
2. Connect the positive battery cable to the starter.
3. Lay the positive cable into its original routing location and connect all wire ties.




4. Connect the positive battery cable to the positive battery transition block.
5. Connect the positive battery cable to the positive battery terminal on the underhood junction block.
6. Connect the negative battery cable to the negative battery cable transition block.




7. Close the positive battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
8. Close the negative battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
