Battery Replacement




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: Turn OFF the ignition when connecting or disconnecting the battery cables, the battery charger or the jumper cables. Failure to do so may damage the PCM or other electronic components.

1. Open the transition block battery cable protectors.




2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the transition block.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

3. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the transition block.




4. Remove the battery retainer bolt.
5. Remove the retainer.




6. Remove the battery.
7. Remove the negative transition block from the battery.
8. Remove the positive transition block from the battery.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the positive transition block to the positive battery terminal on the side of the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the positive transition block cable fastener to 14 N.m (11 lb ft).

2. Install the negative transition block cable to the negative battery terminal on the side of the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the negative transition block cable fastener to 14 N.m (11 lb ft).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the battery into the vehicle.




4. Install the battery retainer.
5. Install the battery retainer bolt.
6. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).




7. Connect the positive battery cable to the positive transition block.

Tighten
Tighten the cable nut to 14 N.m (11 lb ft).

8. Connect the negative battery cable to the negative transition block.

Tighten
Tighten the cable nut to 14 N.m (11 lb ft).
