Wiper Arm: Service and Repair
Wiper Arm Blade And Element:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Turn ignition switch to "ACCY" position.
2. Set wiper switch to "DELAY" or "AUTO DELAY" position.
3. Turn ignition switch off when wiper arms are in the innerwipe position and not moving.
4. Wiper nozzle hose (A) from washer hose (3) connector.
5. Cover (6) from nut (7).
6. Nut (7) from wiper arm assembly (8) and wiper transmission assembly drive shaft (B).
Important: If wiper arm assembly cannot be removed from wiper transmission assembly drive shaft by rocking, a battery puller may be used with the windshield wipers in midwipe.
7. Wiper arm assembly (8) from wiper transmission assembly drive shaft (B) by rocking.
8. Wiper blade assembly (9) from wiper arm assembly (8).
A. Push in button (C) of wiper blade assembly clip (D) and remove wiper blade assembly (9) from inside radius of wiper arm assembly (8).
B. Bring wiper arm assembly (8) out through opening in wiper blade assembly (9).
INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTE: Refer to the Fastener Notice in the GENERAL INFORMATION.
1. Wiper blade assembly (9) on wiper arm assembly (8).
NOTE: Wiper system must be in park position (not innerwipe) when installing wiper arms. If wiper system is not in park position, damage to wiper system and vehicle will occur.
2. Wiper arm assembly (8) on wiper transmission assembly drive shaft (B).
A. Turn ignition switch to "ACCY" position.
B. Set wiper switch to "OFF" position. Windshield wiper system should operate. The wiper transmission will rotate the wiper arm drive shafts out of innerwipe and into park position.
C. Turn ignition switch off when wipers are in park position.
D. Install wiper arm assembly (8) on wiper transmission drive shaft (B), while keeping the wiper arm assembly (8) 20 mm (0.800 in.) below the surface of the park stop (E).
3. Nut (7) on wiper transmission assembly drive shaft (B) and wiper arm assembly (8).
Tighten
Nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).
4. Place wiper arm assembly (8) on park stop (E).
5. Cover (6) on nut (7).
Important: Lubricate washer bose with windshield washer solvent to ease installation on washer nozzle.
6. Wiper nozzle hose (A) to washer hose (3) connector.
7. Operate wipers and washers and check for proper operation.
