B0603
DTC B0603 BCM Internal Memory Malfunction:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Body Control Module (BCM) stores calibrations in an EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). When the ignition switch is first turned to the RUN position, the BCM performs internal tests on the EEPROM and can determine the integrity of its non-volatile memory. The BCM attempts to write to its own non-volatile memory when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position and then to the LOCK or OFF position.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ The BCM has three consecutive unsuccessful attempts at writing to its own non-volatile memory.
^ The BCM detects an internal memory (write error) malfunction.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The BCM stores DTC B0603 in memory.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Under all fault conditions, the ignition switch must be cycled from the LOCK or OFF position to the RUN position before this DTC clears.
^ The BCM no longer detects an internal memory malfunction condition (write error).
^ A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Using a scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
DTC B0603 is related to an internal malfunction of the EEPROM in the BCM. The EEPROM is not removable from the BCM; therefore, replace the BCM. A service replacement BCM must be programmed and configured to the vehicle. Using a scan tool, make sure the BCM is properly programmed and configured for the correct PASS-Key(R) II and vehicle option content. Refer to Setup New BCM for more information. Service and Repair

Number below refer to the step number on the diagnostic table.
2. Determines whether the condition is intermittent or the BCM is faulty.
