U1300 Class II Data Link Shorted to Ground - IPC
DTC U1300 Class II Data Link Shorted To Ground:
DTC U1300 Class II Data Link Shorted To Ground (Part 1 Of 2):
DTC U1300 Class II Data Link Shorted To Ground (Part 2 Of 2):
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The instrument cluster transmits on the class II serial data line. If the instrument cluster sees a short to ground instead of its own transmitted message, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The instrument cluster detects a short to ground in circuit 1132.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores a DTC U1300 in the instrument cluster memory.
^ SERVICE VEHICLE SOON will be displayed for this DTC.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Under all fault conditions, the ignition must be cycled before this DTC can change from current to history.
^ The instrument cluster detects its own transmitted message.
^ A history DTC will clear after 100 drive cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Using a scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction to occur:
^ An intermittent short to ground in circuit 1036, 1037, 1038, 1049, 1122, or circuit 1132. Short to ground internal to the instrument cluster.
^ Short to ground internal to the Body Control Module (BCM).
^ Short to ground internal to the heater-A/C control.
^ Short to ground internal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
^ Short to ground internal to the Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM).
^ Short to ground internal to the splice pack SP205.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
1. Always perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check before attempting to diagnose a DTC U1300.
2. This test checks for a short to ground in circuit 1132.
4. This test determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1036 or the instrument cluster.
8. This test determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1037 or the Body Control Module (BCM).
12. This test determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1038 or the heater-A/C control.
16. This test determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1049 or the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
20. This test determines if the short to ground is in circuit 1122 or the Electronic Brake Control Module / Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM).
25. Always reconnect any connectors or components were disconnected or removed and clear all DTCs.
